Cut-away backing

Cap backing

5. Hoops, Frames and Placement Tools
Good hooping is one of the most repeatable ways to reduce production variation. The goal is to hold the garment and backing securely without stretching the material out of shape.
Keep hoop sizes that match the work you actually run. Using a much larger hoop than necessary can make handling awkward, while forcing a design into a hoop with almost no working room can slow setup and increase placement risk.
For commercial production, specialty frames can be useful for caps, pockets, sleeves, bags and other difficult locations. Magnetic hoops can also simplify some garments, but the right choice depends on the machine, garment construction and production workflow.

9. How to Stock Embroidery Supplies Without Overbuying
