Not every textured-fabric job needs a visible stitched foundation.

A knockdown layer may be unnecessary when:

  • the material has only a very low pile;
  • the logo is large, solid and already provides strong coverage;

Sequence it before the main design

The knockdown must run before the visible logo so the surface is controlled before the satin, fill or running stitches are placed.

After the knockdown, the main design should still use logical sequencing, suitable underlay, pull compensation and controlled trims and jumps.

Do not use the knockdown to rescue impossible details

A laydown layer cannot make every fine line or tiny letter production-safe. Thread still has physical width, fabric still moves and small counters can still close.

If the artwork contains tiny text, thin outlines or closely packed detail, the better solution may be to simplify the logo, increase the embroidery size or create a separate towel version.
